Obituary: Eigil 'Ike' Wium, 100, Of Cheshire

CHESHIRE, CT — (From Alderson-Ford Funeral Home): Eigil “Ike” Wium, 100, of Cheshire, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Greta (Sorensen) Wium who passed away in 2005.

Mr. Wium was born February 13, 1922, in Holstebro, Denmark, the son of the late Wilhelm and Nina Wium. He came to the U.S. in 1946 with his wife and was a graduate of the University of New Haven, with a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked as a product engineer for Stanley Works and General Signal until his retirement in 1987.

Mr. Wium is survived by his son Norman Wium of Cheshire; his daughter Vanessa Wium Dacunto of Cheshire; his 7 grandchildren Matthew Wium, Karen Belmont, Kristian Wium, Jim Dacunto Jr, Krista Casso, Marc Wium, Jack Wium,12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he is predeceased by his grandson John Ryan Wium.

Arrangements – Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
