Obituary: James J. McEvoy, 92, Of Cheshire
He was a former Waterbury police officer who served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He also worked for SNET for many years.

CHESHIRE, CT — (From Alderson-Ford Funeral Home): James J. McEvoy, 92, of Cheshire, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Alice (Duran) McEvoy. He was also predeceased by his sister Gloria McEvoy and recently, by his son Timothy.
Mr. McEvoy was born July 10, 1930, in Waterbury, the son of the late James and Katherine (Albanese) McEvoy. He was raised in Waterbury and graduated high school from La Salette Seminary in Hartford. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Mr. McEvoy was a communicant of St. Thomas Becket Church in Cheshire and was employed by SNET as a publisher for many years until his retirement. Prior to that, he was a police officer for the City of Waterbury.

Mr. McEvoy is survived by his son Dr. James McEvoy and his wife Susan; his daughter MaryLynn Collins and her husband Keith; his brother Robert McEvoy; his sisters Dolores O'Rourke and Patricia Siemenski; and his grandchildren Conor, Tyler, and Dylan McEvoy and Tecumseh Collins. He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Arrangements – Visitation for Mr. McEvoy will be held on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Saturday morning and proceed to St. Bridget of Sweden Parish / St. Thomas Becket Church, 435 North Brooksvale Rd. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
