Obituary: Kathleen (Noonan) McCormick, 88, Of Cheshire
She worked tirelessly as an advocate for people with special needs. She helped start a vocational workshop at the former Durham Hill School.

CHESHIRE, CT — (From Alderson-Ford Funeral Home): Mrs. Kathleen (Noonan) McCormick, 88, of Cheshire, passed away Wednesday January 4, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late Daniel J. McCormick.
Kathleen was born January 27, 1934 in Northampton, MA, a daughter of the late Timothy James and Theresa Eileen (Sullivan) Noonan and was a longtime Cheshire resident. She was a graduate of St. Michael Grammar School and High School in Northampton.
Kathleen worked tirelessly as an advocate for people with special needs. She helped start a vocational workshop at the former Durham Hill School in Durham. She also served on the Board of Directors at the former Marivon/Stride School in Hamden and had worked with the Connecticut Department of Education to develop policies and procedures to protect the rights of those with special needs.

Along with her husband she was a founding parishioner of St. Thomas Becket Church, where she was chairwoman of the Lazarus Committee, taught religious education for over 40 years and brought weekly communion and lead prayer services at Elim Park Baptist Home for many years.
She leaves her sons, Daniel J. McCormick, Jr. of Cheshire and Christopher M. McCormick of Shelton, her daughters, Karen E. McCormick of Waterbury and Mary P. McCormick of Southington, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Timothy Noonan.

Funeral services in celebration of Kathleen’s life will be held Saturday January 7, 2023 at 10:15 a.m. from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire 615 South Main Street to St. Bridget of Sweden Parish-St. Thomas Becket Church 435 North Brooksvale Road for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery in Cheshire. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
