Obituary: Philip Edward Banning, 67, Of Cheshire
Known to many as "Farmer Phil," he was co-owner of Geremia Greenhouse in Wallingford.

CHESHIRE, CT — (From Alderson-Ford Funeral Home): Philip Edward Banning, 67, of Cheshire, entered into rest on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Phil was born on June 22, 1956 in Hamden and was a Cheshire resident for most of his life.
Phil was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Barbara (Klanica) Banning for over 45 years. Together they raised three beautiful daughters, the pride and joy of Phil’s life.
Phil was a kind and humble soul and always generous with his time. He loved life to the fullest and was proudest to be “Papa” to his 5 grandchildren. He always made them laugh, took every opportunity to teach them, protect, them, and give them rides on his giant tractors.

Known to many as “Farmer Phil,” he was co-owner of Geremia Greenhouse in Wallingford, CT. When he wasn’t at home with his wife and family he was at the greenhouse. He walked in each day with a smile on his face and a joke ready to tell. He could brighten even the darkest days.
Phil enjoyed everything he did, and work was no exception. He loved everyone he worked with, and was especially grateful for his partner, Joey. Phil always said “he couldn’t ask for a better partner.”

In addition to his wife, Barbara, Phil is survived by his loving daughters, Kate Corcoran and her husband, Adam of Cheshire; Sarah Black and Andy Mulholland of Gloucester, MA; and Mary Banning Taylor and her husband, Mike of Cheshire. He also leaves his cherished grandchildren, Andrew Philip, Meghan and Thomas Philip Corcoran, August Mulholland and Charlie Taylor; his mother-in-law, Peggy Klanica of Cheshire; sisters-in-law, Susan (Phil) Piqueira of Southington and Amy (Lou) Lurz of Cheshire; brothers-in-law, David (Bonnie) Klanica of Newtown and Brian Klanica of Cheshire; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister-in-law, Connie Klanica.
Friends may greet Phil’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main St., Cheshire, CT 06410 on Sunday, December 3, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. On Monday, December 4, 2023, his funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10AM at St. Bridget of Sweden Parish-St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery, Higgins Rd., Cheshire.
