Police Warn Of Daytime Car Burglaries In Cheshire
Car thefts and burglaries are not only happening during the overnight hours, according to police.
CHESHIRE, CT — With the holiday season here, Cheshire police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles to help prevent becoming a victim of a car burglary.
“Motor vehicle thefts, along with thefts from motor vehicles continue to be a crime of opportunity,” police wrote in a news release.

- Unsecure doors
- Windows left down
- Valuables left in sight
- Keys in the vehicle
The Cheshire Police Department reminds residents to:
- Bring in valuables, especially holiday gifts, from the vehicle during the overnight hours
- Lock vehicles when not in use
- Do not leave valuables in sight when parked in public or private areas
- Do not leave keys, or ignition fobs, in the vehicle whether the vehicle is locked or unlocked
- If you are going to warm up your vehicle in the morning, make sure it is locked.
“These crimes are not only occurring during overnight hours,” police wrote. “There have been thefts reported that have occurred during daytime hours. Please remember to safeguard your personal belongings and secure your vehicle doors when not in use.
