Cheshire's Tomlinson, Greco take Third at Invitational

Top performance for two wrestlers at the 29th Annual New Milford Tournament.

The Cheshire High School wrestling team had two top performers at the 29th annual New Milford Invitational wrestling tournament.  Scott Tomlinson and Joe Greco, took third place while the team finished in 10th place. 

Tomlinson defeated Mat Gray of Greenwich in a 5-0 decision to win his consolation match, and take third place in the 135 pound weight class. 

Greco won his consolation match in the 152 pound class against Ken Hill of Platt Tech.  He pinned him at 4:59.

Will Lamb lost in the quarterfinals to Brookfield’s Alex Neal in the 130 pound class.  His tournament ended with a second loss to John Mahoney of Shelton in the consolation round.  Neal took the championship in the weight class, and was named most outstanding wrestler for the tournament.

Dan Massucci at 140 won his first round match against Cameron Driscoll of Greenwich before losing to Lars Remole of Darien in an 8-2 decision.

The tournament’s first round was single elimination, which ended the day early for some of the wrestlers.  Lucas Swan lost in the first round of the 112 pound class, defeated by Andrew Nocera of Holy Cross. Jake Cervero lost a first round 5-2 decision to Nate Misbach of Guilford in the 119 pound class.
