Phil Giampietro, a sales associate affiliated with Coldwell Banker Realty in Cheshire, recently surpassed the milestone of $95,000 donated from his real estate commission to Homes for Heroes, an organization that helps firefighters, EMS workers, law enforcement, military, healthcare professionals and teachers when they buy or sell a home or refinance a house or mortgage.

Giampietro is a retired police sergeant who served 25 years, during which he was assigned mostly to accidents and investigations. “I worked closely with first responders and other emergency personnel. Witnessing firsthand how much they put on the line and the crucial service they provide, I always wanted to give something back. Homes for Heroes offered that opportunity, to help them secure their dreams and goals of homeownership,” he said.
When Giampietro works with clients who fit the Homes for Heroes criteria, he helps them directly through the program via a reduction in his own commission or money back on the buying side. In one of Giampietro’s favorite instances, his donation helped a client secure their mortgage. Currently, Giampietro ranks in the Top 3 Homes for Heroes contributors from Connecticut.
