Road Remains Closed For Oil Spill Cleanup In Cheshire: Police

The road has been closed since a rollover crash involving an oil truck on Friday, according to police.

CHESHIRE, CT — A portion of Bethany Mountain Road (Route 42) in Cheshire remains closed as crews continue to clean up a hazardous material spill from a rollover crash involving an oil truck on Friday, Feb. 11, police said in an update on Monday.

The closure is on Bethany Mountain Road from North Brooksvale Road to the Prospect Town Line (Candee Lane in Prospect), according to police.

Bethany Mountain Road is closed to all through traffic, police said.

Police said while there is no definitive timeline for the road to reopen, the closure and cleanup is expected to extend into, and possibly through, the weekend of Feb. 19 and 20.

UPDATE: The road reopened on Tuesday, Feb. 22, according to police.
