Rollover Crash Closes Road, Causes Oil Spill In Cheshire: Police

CHESHIRE, CT — A rollover crash involving an oil truck has closed part of Bethany Mountain Road (Route 42) in Cheshire, according to police.

The crash caused a hazardous material spill, according to Lt. Jeffrey Sutherland.

Sutherland said the Cheshire Fire Department and the State of Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection are at the scene coordinating containment and cleanup.

The operator and sole occupant of the vehicle was taken to a hospital for injuries that weren’t life-threatening, according to Sutherland.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated.

Sutherland said Bethany Mountain Road will be closed from North Brooksvale Road to the Prospect town line during the investigation and cleanup. The timeline is expected to be through the weekend and into Monday (Feb. 14) morning, Sutherland said in an update.
