Proposed budgets would leaving Cheshire schools scrambling, schools officials say.

CHESHIRE, CT --Cheshire Public Schools could be left short staffed next year, school officials say.
If any of the three proposed 2016-2017 budgets are approved, the Board of Education will be forced to make cuts, The New Haven Register reports.
The school district needs an increase, not a decrease, in order to meet salary requirements, contract obligations and keep current programs as is, Interim Superintendent of Schools Scott Detrick told The Register.

Schools need a $1.21 million increase over the current budget to keep current programs and staff, he said. However, Town Manager Michael MIlone cut the district’s proposed budget by about $200K, The Register reports.
