‘Shelter-In-Place’ Lifted After Police Response At Cheshire Academy

Police responded to a "shelter-in-place" notification at Cheshire Academy on Monday evening, according to school officials.

CHESHIRE, CT — Cheshire police responded to a “shelter-in-place” notification at Cheshire Academy on Monday evening, according to school officials.

Officials said police were called to the school after outside visitors were seen in a campus building.

“Out of an abundance of caution and in accordance with our established protocols, we immediately issued a shelter-in-place notification to the community,” officials wrote in a message to the Cheshire Academy community. “Local police responded promptly, conducted a thorough investigation, and confirmed that at no point was there a real threat to our campus. At that point, the shelter-in-place was lifted.
