Skunk Killed By Cheshire Dog Tests Positive For Rabies

Cheshire Animal Control reminds residents to vaccinate your pets against rabies.

A skunk that was killed by a dog on Alison Avenue on Sunday, Sept. 27 has tested positive for rabies, the Cheshire Animal Control announced on Wednesday.

Animal Control Officer April Leiler said the dog encountered the skunk in its own yard. The dog was current with its rabies vaccination and was boostered against rabies and placed on a strict home confinement for 45 days per state mandate, according to Leiler.

Cheshire Animal Control stresses the importance of vaccinating your pets against rabies to protect your pets and family from this fatal virus.
