If you live in a flood zone you will be required by your mortgage company to get flood insurance for your home. If you don't live in a declared flood zone and you think you may be at risk, it can be a really good coverage to have for your home. A basic CT home insurance policy does not offer flood insurance coverage. Given the intense weather we have been experiencing the last couple years, it may be hard to predict if a flood could occur in your home.
While a flood insurance policy can be difficult to navigate, there are options and a knowledgeable agent can help you to get the coverage you need. If you are considering flood insurance, call your agent and ask how it can help you out! Things have been changing when it comes to flood zone maps and other flood regulations, it's a good idea to keep yourself up to date.
