Virginia Trial Set for Former Cheshire Rabbi in Sex Case Involving Minor
The man was arrested in February for alleged incidents that occurred more than 40 years ago in Virginia.

A bench trial for former Cheshire rabbi Eric Silver, 72, has been scheduled for Oct. 6 in Norfolk, Virginia, according to the New Haven Register.
Silver, who served as rabbi of Temple Beth David in Cheshire for 20 years before retiring in 2010, will answer to charges that he took part in sexually-related activity with a minor more than 40 years ago in Norfolk, Virginia.
Silver was arrested Feb. 23 at his Willow Brook Drive home and charged with three counts of indecent liberties with a child and was taken into custody by Virginia authorities last week.

The Register reports that a hearing at which motions may be presented has been scheduled for June 6.
Silver, who had been held without bail in Connecticut, was freed on bond on March 26 in Norfolk, according to the Register.
