Woman Assaulted While Walking in Cheshire: Police

Cheshire Police say the woman was approached from behind by a man in an attack that is consistent with previous reported incidents.

CHESHIRE, CT — Cheshire Police are investigating after a 46-year-old woman was assaulting by a man while she was walking in the Strathmore Drive neighborhood late Wednesday afternoon.

Police received the complaint at about 4:40 p.m. and the victim told police she was approached from behind by a man who grabbed her around the shoulders and limited her movement. He then reached his other hand between her legs from behind, according to police.

The suspect then released the victim and fled toward Newbridge Circle on foot, according to police.

The suspect is described as a late teen Caucasian male, approximately 5-feet, 10-inches tall with an athletic build and short, black hair. Clothing description was a gray T-shirt and red shorts.

The Cheshire Police Department conducted thorough searches of the immediate area and surrounding neighborhoods with no success.

“We will continue to provide additional patrols through our residential neighborhoods and utilize all available means and methods to identify the suspect,” police said in a press release. “Our detectives continue to make these cases the highest priority for our community.

“The above suspect description and method of attack are consistent with previous reported incidents in town. We ask residents to remain vigilant and report any unusual or suspicious behaviors. Please take additional precautions to keep yourself safe.”
