Woman Charged With Attempted Manslaughter In Assault: Cheshire Police

CHESHIRE, CT — A woman has been charged with attempted manslaughter in connection with an assault in Cheshire last Friday, according to police.

Police responded around 10:25 p.m. on July 17 to a 911 call originating from Rita Avenue reporting an assault-in-progress with possible shots fired.

Responding officers “secured the scene, allowing follow-up investigative personnel from the Cheshire Police Department and the Connecticut State Police Major Crime Squad to conduct a detailed investigation,” according to a news release.

Rebecca Alicea, 53, of Cheshire, was arrested following the investigation, according to police.

Alicea was charged with criminal attempt at first-degree manslaughter with a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, illegal discharge with a firearm, third-degree assault, first-degree threatening, and carrying a pistol without a permit.

She was being held in lieu of a $250,000 bond with a court date of Aug. 28, according to state judicial records.

The victim suffered minor injuries, according to police.

Police said the incident remains under investigation.
