Let's be honest here – there's a lot not to like about contemporary America. Still, I've no doubt in my mind that America remains the greatest country on the planet. I realize there are those out there who tisk at the whole “we're number one” thing, but the truth is the truth. America is unquestionably, the best country in the world. Here's some reasons why:
Untold millions of illegal immigrants can't be wrong. Seriously. These folks came here for a reason. The reason is that it's better here than it is where they're from.
We have it all here. I'm told Denmark has the happiest people on earth. That may be true. What Denmark doesn't have, however is palm trees, the Boston Red Sox or Disney World. Enjoy those winters.

We have loudmouths galore. Let's face it, there's nothing more annoying than a person rolling his or her eyes and saying there's too much divisiveness in this country. Really? That's a problem? Would it be better if we all thought alike? Perhaps it's just me, but I'd rather have big mouths with different points of view littered across the cable news landscape than have my government letting me know what and how I should think.
We're not China. You have to love the way people say “China is rising,” like that's a good thing. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd suspect China's political prisoners might be of a different opinion.
