2 Are Indicted for Burglary of Clinton Outlet Store

Federal officials say it was 1 in a series of store burglaries along the Eastern Seaboard involving the theft of designer watches, handbags.

Two men were indicted by a federal grand jury last week on burglary charges stemming from an outlet store burglary spree that included the theft of more than $5,000 from the Fossil store in Clinton.

Connecticut U.S Attorney announced that on July 28, that a federal grand jury in New Haven returned an indictment charging Alionis Perez, 39, a citizen of Cuba last residing in New Jersey, and Yoandrys Cue, 29, a citizen of Cuba last residing in Florida, with engaging in a conspiracy to burglarize outlet stores in six states along the Eastern Seaboard between August and November 2013.

They are accused of breaking into the Fossil store in Clinton on Aug. 3, 2013, disabling the alarm system before stealing more than $5,000 in property. Following the burglary, Perez, Cue and others returned to New Jersey with the stolen merchandise.

They also are accused of targeting and stealing more than $5,000 in watches from Movado, Michael Kors and Fossil stores in Kittery, ME,
Miramar Beach, FL, Hagerstown, MD, Grove City, PA, Lee, MA and stealing a van in Massachusetts.

The conspirators then traveled from Massachusetts, disposed of the stolen van in Staten Island, New York, and returned to New Jersey with the stolen merchandise, according to Daly.

The indictment charges Perez and Cue with one count of conspiracy, which carries a maximum term of imprisonment of five years and a fine of up to $250,000, and one count of interstate transportation of stolen property, which carries a maximum term of imprisonment of 10 years and a fine of up to $250,000.

Perez has been detained in federal custody since August 2014 after his arrest in Tennessee on a separate charge of interstate transportation of stolen property.

Cue is currently incarcerated in New Jersey.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Clinton (CT) Police Department, Kittery (ME) Police Department, Walton County (FL) Sheriff’s Office, Washington County (MD) Sheriff’s Office, Pennsylvania State Police, Lee (MA) Police Department and Berkshire County (MA) Sheriff’s Office.
