2 Firefighters Injured In Clinton Commercial Building Blaze
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries extinguishing a blaze that broke out at a Glenwood Road commercial building Monday evening.
CLINTON, CT — Two firefighters suffered minor injuries extinguishing a blaze that broke out at a Glenwood Road commercial building Monday evening, according to a Clinton Volunteer Fire Department Facebook post.
The Clinton Emergency Communications Center received numerous 911 calls reporting a structure fire on Glenwood Road at 6:20 p.m. Firefighters arrived within four minutes and found a well-involved fire in a large, two-story, wood-frame commercial building.
Due to the extent of the fire, Eversource was requested to do a remote power shutdown of the area so that firefighters could operate at the scene safely. Power was restored within a short period of time, according to the statement.

Firefighters had the blaze under control at 6:58 p.m. but remained on the scene until 11 p.m. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries at the scene and were treated and released following treatment.
Mutual aid was requested from area departments in Killingworth, Madison, Old Saybrook, Guilford, and Westbrook. North Madison provided area-wide coverage during the incident. Over 50 firefighters operated during this incident.

The fire is under investigation by members of the Clinton Fire Marshals Office, Clinton police, and the Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation units.
