CLINTON, CT — Motorists traveling through the Route 1 and Route 81 corridor should expect frequent delays beginning Friday as a state paving project gets underway, according to the Clinton Police Department.
Police announced that paving operations are scheduled to begin June 26 at the intersection of Route 81 and Route 1. Work will proceed north along Route 81 toward Killingworth and is currently expected to take place weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The department advised drivers to seek alternate routes whenever possible during construction hours, warning that traffic delays are expected throughout the project area.
Police also urged motorists traveling through the work zone to reduce speed, follow traffic-control personnel and signage, and exercise additional caution while crews are present.
The Clinton Police Department said it will provide updates as the paving project progresses.
