CLINTON, CT — A popular donut shop recently announced plans to reopen at a new location in a nearby town months after a fire broke out at their Clinton store.
According to the store's Facebook page, Beach Donut Shop plans to reopen soon at 631 Boston Post Road in Westbrook.
"After a few challenging months, we're so excited to finally share the news: WE'RE REOPENING SOON," the store's Aug. 14 post reads. "We've been working hard to get our new Beach Donut home ready, and we can't wait to open our doors and welcome you back...Thank you all for your love and support along the way."
The store also teased an official opening date for the new Westbrook location would be announced soon.
The post also included a picture of a sign that teased the new location would feature the "same family, same recipes, same great donuts you love."
The announcement comes nearly three months after a fire broke out at the store's original 344 East Main Street location in Clinton on May 30 and caused extensive damage.
At the time of the fire, the store's owners announced the shop would temporarily close and vowed to rebuild.
"Most importantly, everyone was safe, and no one was injured or harmed," the store's May 30 post reads. "We are incredibly grateful to the crews from Clinton, Westbrook, Old Saybrook and Madison fire department along with the Clinton Police Department, for their swift response and efforts in bringing the situation under control. We also want to thank our customers, friends, neighbors and community members for the many messages, calls and words of support we have received. Your kindness and encouragement mean so much to us during this difficult time."
The following day, the store thanked customers and the community for their support following the fire.
"We are truly overwhelmed by all the love, support, and kindness we have received after the fire," the store's May 31 post reads. "Your messages, calls, and words of encouragement have given us strength and hope during this difficult time. We honestly don't have enough words to thank each and every one of you. Having you by our side through these challenging days means more to us than we can express."
On June 1, the shop announced all of its production and distribution activities had been suspended due to the fire, and all business operations and communications with partners were temporarily on hold.
"Once conditions return to normal and production resumes, operations will restart," the store's post reads. "We sincerely appreciate your support and understanding during this difficult time."
A GoFundMe was launched on June 4 to provide financial support for Beach Donut Shop, which the campaign's description noted has been "a cornerstone of the Clinton shoreline community" for over 75 years.
"Many of us have celebrated birthdays with Beach Donut donuts, brought visiting friends there for their first shoreline breakfast, or made it part of our family's summer traditions," the GoFundMe description reads. "Now it's our turn to support them."
As of Friday afternoon, the GoFundMe page has raised over $15,000 toward a $20,000 goal after receiving nearly 100 donations.
