CLINTON, CT — Drivers in Clinton are paying less than the statewide average for a gallon of regular gasoline, as Connecticut's price at the pump continues to run above both the national average and where it stood a year ago, according to the latest data from AAA and the U.S. Energy Information Administration, or EIA.

The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in Connecticut was $4.142 as of August 25, according to AAA. That is up about 7.7 cents from a week ago, when the average stood at $4.066, but down about 6.2 cents from a month ago, when it was $4.204. Compared with a year ago, when Connecticut's average was $3.109, the current price is up roughly $1.03 a gallon.

Connecticut's average also remains higher than the nation's. The national average price for regular gasoline was $4.085 a gallon as of August 24, according to EIA. That puts Connecticut's price about 5.7 cents above the national figure.

EIA does not publish a price specifically for Connecticut, tracking the state instead as part of the New England region. That regional average, covering Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont, was $4.026 a gallon as of August 24, up about 8 cents from the previous week.

In Clinton, gas stations with current price reports averaged $4.04 a gallon for regular gasoline, about 10.2 cents below the statewide average. That is about 1.4 cents above the EIA's New England regional average and about 4.5 cents below the national average.

Prices at individual Clinton stations varied. Below are the most recent regular gasoline prices reported for Clinton gas stations. Not every station in town had a current price report available at the time of publication.
