"This is a major step forward for this project, and I'm proud to have fought for this funding in Hartford, and I want to thank the members of the State Bonding Commission and Governor Lamont for supporting this investment in Clinton," Aniskovich said in the release. "A lot of people have worked hard to get us to this point and today is a great day for Clinton."

The proposed Pierson School project would convert the historic school property into new affordable housing, including housing opportunities for seniors, according to the release. Part of the project is also expected to provide space for senior activities and programs.

The project includes plans to preserve part of the historic school while putting the property back into use, according to the release. Once completed, the development is expected to become a tax-paying property.
