Attempted Carjacking Reported In Clinton, Police Say

The victim physically struggled with the suspects while attempting to protect herself and prevent the theft of her vehicle, police said.

CLINTON, CT — On Friday, the Clinton Police Department responded to a report of an attempted carjacking and robbery at a residence, police said.

During the incident, the victim physically struggled with the suspects while attempting to protect herself and prevent the theft of her vehicle, police said. The suspects fled the area before the arrival of officers, police said.

As part of the investigation, Clinton Police investigators utilized Flock Safety automated license plate reader (ALPR) cameras in the area to identify a vehicle associated with the incident, police said.

Investigators subsequently determined that the vehicle was also associated with a motor vehicle theft in Waterford, burglaries and credit card fraud in Old Saybrook, and additional criminal activity in Fairfield County, police said.

One suspect has been identified, and investigators are continuing to work to identify the other individuals involved, police said.
