Two New Art Exhibitions Open This Weekend Along Clinton's Main Street

CLINTON, CT — It's a quiet weekend for the marquee, but a busy one for the easel: Clinton's two Main Street galleries are both mid-changeover this Thursday through Sunday, giving art lovers a reason to make a short walk of it. Grab a coffee, park once and hit both stops.

• CAS Elected Members Exhibition — Opening reception Thursday, Sept. 24, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.; the show itself remains on view through Nov. 12. This juried show features work chosen from among the Clinton Art Society's own elected members, filling the gallery for the better part of two months. Venue: Clinton Art Society, 54 E Main St.
• JoAnn Campbell Art Show & Reception — Opened Sept. 12 and, based on the gallery's usual monthly rotation, remains on view through the weekend before the next show's Oct. 3 reception. A co-op gallery run by local artists, this stop rotates a new member's work into the front room roughly every month. Venue: Clinton Art Gallery, 20 E Main St.

Two galleries, two blocks apart, two shows in transition — it's a small-town version of gallery-hopping, and this is the weekend to do it before the Elected Members show settles in for its two-month run.
