Connecticut Water To Host Public Open House At Clinton Drinking Water Treatment Plant Oct. 28

Connecticut Water will host a free Oct. 28 open house at its Clinton treatment plant, which supplies water to five shoreline towns.

CLINTON, CT — Connecticut Water Company will hold a public open house Oct. 28 at its William N. MacKenzie Drinking Water Treatment Facility in Clinton, giving visitors an opportunity to learn how drinking water is treated and tested before reaching customers.

The free event is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. at the facility, 12 Kelseytown Bridge Road. Visitors may arrive at any time during the two-hour period.

The MacKenzie facility can produce up to 6 million gallons of drinking water per day, making it Connecticut Water's largest source of drinking water for customers in its shoreline service area, which includes Clinton, Guilford, Madison, Old Saybrook and Westbrook.

The facility treats surface water supplied by the nearby Kelseytown and Killingworth reservoirs, according to the company.

Connecticut Water President Craig J. Patla said the open house will allow customers to learn about the equipment and procedures used to filter water, remove impurities and monitor water quality.

"Our team of local water professionals are eager to share the tools we use to filter and treat water to remove impurities and test its quality," Patla said in the release.

Adults attending the open house must bring a government-issued photo ID. All visitors must wear closed-toe, flat shoes because the facility is an active worksite.

Connecticut Water is a public utility regulated by the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority. The company provides water service to more than 108,000 customers in 60 Connecticut towns and wastewater services to 3,000 customers in Southbury.
