Bennett Collects Signatures to Run for 33rd District

He intends to run for a district that includes Clinton, Lyme, Haddam, East Haddam, East Hampton, and Portland among others.

Democrat Colin Bennett will petition to run unaffiliated in the race for the 33rd District state senate seat, according to the Shoreline Times.

Bennett failed to get the nomination of the Democratic Party, with the party opting for current Democratic nominee Norman Needleman, as reported by the Shoreline Times. The District represents towns Chester, Clinton, Colchester, Deep River, East Haddam, East Hampton, Essex, Haddam, Lyme, Old Saybrook, Portland and Westbrook.

The party endorsed Needleman unanimously in May, the Shoreline Times reported. He will need to collect enough signatures to equal 1 percent of all the people who voted in the last election, about 300 to 400 people.
