These Are The Best 36 Employers In Connecticut: New Forbes List

CONNECTICUT — Forbes has released a new list that identifies the best employers in Connecticut. Unlike Forbes’ annual list of the best employers in the country, the first-ever best employers by state feature consists of a unique list for all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Still, Forbes writes that some employers took the No.1 spot on many state lists. Costco Wholesale and Google took the most No.1 spots, according to Forbes. Boeing also featured in more than one No.1 spot, Forbes writes.

Two federal government agencies, the United States Department of Defense and the Department of Veteran Affairs, ranked on a number of state lists despite not being ranked nationally by Forbes.

According to Forbes, the best Connecticut employers are:

1. Yale University, 15,158 employees, based in New Haven, CT

2. United Technologies, 204,700 employees, based in Farmington CT

3. Lockheed Martin, 105,000 employees, based in Bethesda, MD

4. Webster Bank, 3,302 employees, based in Waterbury, CT

5. Yale New Haven Health, 25,199 employees, based in New Haven, CT

6. FedEx, 425,000 employees, based in Memphis, TN

7. University of Connecticut, 9,469 employees, based in Storrs, CT

8. ALDI, 11,000 employees, based in Batavia, IL

9. Cigna, 46,000 employees, based in Bloomfield, CT

10. Amazon, 563,100 employees, based in Seattle, WA

11. Hartford HealthCare, based in Hartford, CT

12. Kohl's 137,000 employees, based in Menomonee Falls, WI

13. General Dynamics, 98,800 employees, based in Falls Church, VA

Forbes said it worked with Statista to come up with the rankings. An anonymous survey consisting of 50,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 500 employees was used to come up with the rankings. (You can read more about the methodology via Forbes)
