Best Beginnings Preschool Scholarships Available

Best Beginnings Scholarships can help children go to preschool. Preschool children benefit from quality early education but some parents are not able to give their children this experience.

The preschool years are crucial learning periods for children to gain language as well as social-emotional coping skills.  Children benefit from opportunities to participate in activities that go beyond what may happen in the home.

In an early education and care center the learning is interactive using hands-on materials that allow children to put pieces of information together as they learn. Play allows children to try out new skills and to practice what they have seen others doing.  Children learn through both small and large group interaction.

It is in preschool that the stage is set for further cognitive learning.  Children who develop self-control in the preschool years are more ready to learn when they enter kindergarten. Children learn appropriate behavior by teachers guiding them through a variety of situations.  Following a set schedule and routine that includes group and individual time, table activities, dramatic play, story, music, and outdoor nature and large muscle play helps prepare children for elementary school.

At the Joel School each fall a portion of the entering kindergarten class has not been given the opportunity to attend early education, usually due to the economic situation of the family.  Best Beginnings, Clinton’s Preschool Initiative, created scholarships to assist these families.

Do you know a child, born in 2008, who would benefit from a preschool scholarship? Please go to our website www.bestbeginnings.us or call 860-669-7246 for an application.
