Decorating on a Budget

I thought it would be good to talk about kitchens.  This is, honestly, the most expensive room in your home.  There are costly items that will make it look great - granite countertops come to mind! - but if you are looking at your kitchen and hating it, there are some budget minded things you can do!

First - change the knobs!  This sounds like it won't make a difference but it will. Make sure you get knobs that will fit in the current holes in your cabinets!  We have talked about paint making a difference and the kitchen is an excellent example.  If your cabinets are really bad, painting them can make an incredible difference.  If you do the work yourself (a drag but cheap!) you will be amazed at the results.  If you look at the kitchen in the picture (http://adamsconstruction.co/kitchens-2/) the white cabinets really brighten up this room.  They have used green tile for the backsplash - what about painting in between your cabinets a really fun color! When you get tired of it you can repaint! Lots of cutting in but still not a lot of work.
