Families Helping Families Apple Pie Festival

Do you know how many days until Thanksgiving -- 64 and how about Christmas -- 89 days to go.  Well there are only 10 days to go to Families Helping Families Sixth Annual Apple Pie Festival.  On Saturday October 6th at the Morgan Cafe from 6:30-8:30pm this town favorite event will take place.  Many of Clinton's best pie makers are trying to practice and come up with the winning pie recipe.

This event has evolved its sixth years from a modest beginning of 75 people attending to last year's 323.  This event features some of the best apple pie one can enjoy along the whole shoreline.  People can attend for free and enjoy pie, ice cream, and coffee but are asked to donate either canned goods or dollars for Families Helping Families various community out-reach programs.

The real high-light of the festival is the "Best Pie Apple Contest" which will feature some of the best "pie-makers" in the area.  The first prize winner will take home $100.00, a beautiful crystal apple, and a ribbon.  There are also prizes for second and third place.  Young "pie-makers" (13 and under) will also receive a prize. Our own Town Clerk, Karen Marsden, has taken home the first place prize two out of the last three years.  Will she win again?  People submitting pies for judging must have them at the Morgan School at 5:00pm that day.  For more information call 860-669-5592.
