Grandma's Gladiolas

Michelle's fond memories of her Grandma Sam through the seasonal blooming of her gladiolas.

Last year I had written a post about Gladiolas in my "Fun and Flora" blog.  Yesterday my first Gladiolas of the summer season, bloomed with their scarlet spires standing majestically in my garden.

It's funny when I mention our gladiolas to acquaintances they always seem to remind me that these flowers are used for funerals.  Some how I never give that a thought, when I see them they remind me of Summer and my Grandma Sam.  She always had beautiful gladiolas in her garden, and I always remember how she used to dry the season's corms in pots on her veranda.

Last Spring my youngest daughter and I purchased 2 different collections of the flowers and have been so happy with our decision.  Once again our garden tells a story about our love of gardening and love of family.  Sending you hugs and kisses Grandma.  Thank you for the wonderful sunshine on our beautiful gladiolas this year.
