The Henry Carter Hull Library receives a gift from the Bea & Shailer Breck Foundation
Local artwork on permanent display at the Henry Carter Hull Library.
The HCH Library hosts a rotating display of artwork from local artists on a regular basis and has done so since it opened its doors back in 1998. But when the trustees of the Bea & Shailer Breck Foundation gave the library an incredible gift of 5 framed pen-and-ink collages by local artist Mabel Stevens the library found a permanent home for these treasures.
These beautiful collages are all local Clinton scenes and are works of incredible detail.
In addition to being a noted local artist, Mabel Stevens served as a library assistant to Emma Stevens, the Henry Carter Hull Library’s first director and then she became the second library director in Clinton.

Mabel Stevens has another painting in the library’s permanent collection, Waterside Bridge, which was a gift of the Friends of the Library and it hangs to the right of the elevator on the 1st floor.
The Henry Carter Hull Library is thrilled to have this important local artwork and invites you to come in and see them. The collages hang in the Dolores Johnston Conference Room on the second floor.
