Business Profile: Enterprise Computer, LLC
Patch Interviewed Richard Holton, Owner Of Enterprise Computer, LLC
How long have you lived in Clinton: I grew up in New Haven and on the shoreline. I do not live in Clinton. I currently live in Westbrook but used to live in Clinton on Riverside Drive.
How long has Enterprise Computer been in business: Enterprise Computer LLC has been selling and servicing computers since 1997. I have fixed computers since I was 11 or for more than 30 years. I was in it at the dawn of the home computer.
How did Enterprise Computer get its name: I was always into Star Trek and wanted to pay homage to my roots. I grew up with Star Trek and because of it I fell in love with technology.
What's the history of the business: I opened the Clinton store in 1997 with one employee and we have grown into two stores with 10 employees and hope to expand again very soon. I refuse to hire geeks with no personality or bedside manner which may have led to slower growth but happier and more informed customers.
What products and services do you offer: We sell, service and repair Macs and PCs, iPads, iPhones, iPod touches. We can do hardware repairs and software. We support businesses and home users and networks. We support every major operating system and network operating system. We offer a unique open-ended service plan to offer a low cost solution for businesses without IT staff or to supplement their IT staff. We offer very competitive prices with the web and the inner city stores. We sell Apple products at the same price as apple.com.
What do you like best about town: What is not to love? Clinton has been a wonderful host for my business and the shoreline is New England in every sense of the word. My customers are my friends. That is probably the most gratifying, when a new employee says it's another of Rich's friends on the phone.
Any personal thoughts you'd like to share: I would just like to thank the community at large for letting me and my company not only work here but participate in making this the best place to work and live. Some things most people don't know is I maintain and design the clintonct.com and westbrookct.us at no cost to the Clinton Chamber of Commerce or the Town of Westbrook, respectfully. I also design, host and maintain the Clinton Bluefish Festival website and Old Saybrook Westbrook Football's website, again at no charge. My wife and I run the annual Easter Egg hunt in Westbrook. I provide the IT support for Westbrook Youth and Family services at no charge as well as a few other very deserving non-profit organizations. I also belong to several boards and commissions and philanthropic organizations. These are just a few of our contributions over the years but I feel that I and everyone else have a social responsibility to be involved, and my wife and I (I can't leave her out because without her I would not be able to do so much and she is very involved with making things happen) lead by example. I don't say this for thanks or recognition -- just to show people that everyone can exploit their talents for the greater good and should. No matter how big or small your contribution is, it counts.
My fondest memory of Clinton: There are so many I can't think of one. This town and the people are great.
