History of the business: The Cedar Chest has been open for 43 years; I've owned it for eight years. It started in a small building next door and was the first consignment store in Connecticut. I've been shopping here since I was 16.
Where does the name come from: It's unknown!
What do you offer: We sell and consign fine upscale women's clothing, jewelry and accessories.
What styles are most in demand: Everyone is looking for designer labels for business and casual wear such as Talbots, J Crew, Gap, Juicy Couture, Armani, Brooks Brothers, Versace, BCBG, Michael Kors, and many others.
What trends have you noticed: The 70s are back!
What makes The Cedar Chest unique: Consignors love the fact that we sell worldwide on eBay. Customers love our window displays.
What do you like best about town: The summer traffic on Route 1.
