The Shoreline Theater Academy presents Sondheim's musical, Into the Woods

The Clinton Art Society (CAS) is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Plein Air by the Sea Competition &amp; Sale on Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6, 2026, in Clinton, CT. The public is welcome to watch artists from across the region paint outdoors, rain or shine, around Clinton’s historic sites on Friday, June 5 from 12pm to 6pm and Saturday, June 6 from 8am until 2pm. Thirty experienced plein air artists will set up their easels at one of three Clinton locations: the town beach, the town dock and downtown. They will complete their paintings in a matter of hours to submit to the competition and exhibition on Saturday, June 6. The event concludes with a Reception and Award Ceremony featuring over 50 paintings for sale in the Gallery at the Andrews Memorial Town Hall on Saturday, June 6 from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. The event is free and open to the public and includes light refreshments. The Gallery and Town Hall are located at 54 E Main Street in Clinton, CT. Judging for the awards is award-winning artist Susan Jositas, an artist member of the Salmagundi Club in New York and represented by Susan Powell Fine Art in Madison, CT.

“We’re excited to bring the 2nd Annual Plein Air by the Sea Competition &amp; Sale into Clinton this year,” said CAS President Robin Hammeal-Urban. “It is a wonderful opportunity to highlight Clinton’s unique beauty on the Connecticut shoreline while celebrating the rich tradition of open-air painting,” she added. This event is sponsored by several Clinton businesses and the Westbrook Elks Lodge #1784. Officers with the Clinton Police Department will host a Tip-A-Cop event to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut at Aqua located at 34 Riverside Drive in Clinton on Thursday, June 16th between 12 PM and 9 PM.
During the event, law enforcement will volunteer their time to work with restaurant employees and welcome customers, take orders and serve meals to diners. All tips the officers receive will be dedicated to helping Special Olympics Connecticut provide life-changing sports, health, and fitness programs to athletes of all abilities. Tip-A-Cop is a Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Connecticut event. About the Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics Connecticut
The Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics Connecticut is a year-round program and one of the movement's largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicles. Officers organize and host fundraisers that include but are not limited to Tip-a-Cop, Cop-on-Top and Penguin Plunge events, all to benefit local Special Olympics athletes.
A highlight of the program is the annual three-day Torch Run which takes place every June. During the Torch Run, officers from police departments and law enforcement agencies across the state run and carry the Special Olympics "Flame of Hope" more than 500 miles through their towns and cities to the site of the Special Olympics Connecticut Summer Games.
