This special event of staged play readings will honor Norman's legacy in the theatre. The Moses Gunn Play Company (renamed Moses Gunn/Norman Marshall Play Company) is a professional ensemble of actors with credits including Broadway, Off-Off Broadway, television, film, London's West End, and regional theatre. Norman played a key role in the burgeoning Off-Off Broadway theatre scene in the 1960's and 1970's. MGNMPC will perform scenes from "John Brown: Trumpet of Freedom" co-written and performed by Norman across the U.S. and overseas. In this solo play, Norman played al 31 characters for which he won rave reviews. We will perform as a staged reading some of those scenes. And a staged reading of Thornton Wilder's one-act play, "Happy Journey to Trenton and Camden". Come celebrate theatre and Norman's incredible contributions as an artist and human with us. There will be a talk-back after and refreshments will be served.

The Shoreline Theater Academy presents Sondheim's musical, Into the Woods

The Clinton Art Society (CAS) is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Plein Air by the Sea Competition &amp; Sale on Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6, 2026, in Clinton, CT. The public is welcome to watch artists from across the region paint outdoors, rain or shine, around Clinton’s historic sites on Friday, June 5 from 12pm to 6pm and Saturday, June 6 from 8am until 2pm. Thirty experienced plein air artists will set up their easels at one of three Clinton locations: the town beach, the town dock and downtown. They will complete their paintings in a matter of hours to submit to the competition and exhibition on Saturday, June 6. The event concludes with a Reception and Award Ceremony featuring over 50 paintings for sale in the Gallery at the Andrews Memorial Town Hall on Saturday, June 6 from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. The event is free and open to the public and includes light refreshments. The Gallery and Town Hall are located at 54 E Main Street in Clinton, CT. Judging for the awards is award-winning artist Susan Jositas, an artist member of the Salmagundi Club in New York and represented by Susan Powell Fine Art in Madison, CT.

“We’re excited to bring the 2nd Annual Plein Air by the Sea Competition &amp; Sale into Clinton this year,” said CAS President Robin Hammeal-Urban. “It is a wonderful opportunity to highlight Clinton’s unique beauty on the Connecticut shoreline while celebrating the rich tradition of open-air painting,” she added. This event is sponsored by several Clinton businesses and the Westbrook Elks Lodge #1784.
