Clerk Hospitalized After SUV Crashes Into Clinton Convenience Store

Police believe the driver inadvertently hit the gas pedal instead of the brake and then crashed into the building.

CLINTON, CT —A clerk was hospitalized after an SUV crashed into the convenience store at a Shell gas station on East Main Street in Clinton on Thursday evening, according to NBC Connecticut.

Clinton Police told NBC they believe the driver of the SUV inadvertently hit the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal while in the parking lot. The vehicle crashed into the store and stopped when it hit the back wall, according to witnesses.

The clerk was struck by the vehicle and sustained serious injuries, but was conscious and alert when police arrived and was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital, according to NBC Connecticut.
