Clinton Man Convicted Of Murder For Hire Plot

He was looking into killing his ex-wife and potentially her new boyfriend.

CLINTON, CT — A federal jury found a Clinton man guilty Friday of attempting to hire someone to murder his ex-wife and potentially her new boyfriend.

James Godiksen, 56, started asking inmates at New Haven Correctional Center during 2016 for assistance in finding someone to kill his former wife, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut office.

An undercover ATF agent spoke to Godiksen multiple times on the phone and was provided with an $80 down payment with the promise for $5,000 if he murdered his ex-wife. He relayed information about her residence, place of work and typical commuting route. The agent was offered additional money if her new boyfriend was killed too.
