Clinton Man Wins $50K In CT Lottery

CLINTON, CT — A Clinton man won $50,000 playing recently, according to CT Lottery. Alvin Barrera purchased the lucky Cashword ticket March 4 at JoJo's Food Mart in Westbrook.

Barrera told CT Lottery that he doesn't play scratch tickets very often, but when he does, he likes to play "Cashword" because it takes more time to play. The "Super Cashword 21" game has two puzzles to play with 18 letters to match.

And it was just the right ticket for Barrera, according to CT Lottery. It contained a 10 word match and rewarded Barrera with a $50,000 top prize.

"I wasn't sure if I really won $50,000," Barrera said. "I didn't want to get excited in case I was wrong. It wasn't until I got to Lottery headquarters that I was sure that I won."
