Clinton Rotary Club's February 2015 Morgan School Student of the Month

Each month during the school year, Clinton Rotary Club celebrates a Morgan School Student of the Month by hosting a dinner in honor of the student and presents a plaque with the name of each Student of the Month engraved on individual name-plates. The plaque is kept on display at the school. Every Student of the Month is given a Rotary pen, “Four Way Test” coin and a framed certificate. On February 26, 2015, Clinton Rotary Club celebrated Morgan School’s Student of the Month, Freshman Miles Waterbury. It was an exciting evening for all. Nominating Teacher, Ray Smith, introduced Miles and gave a wonderful presentation of this student’s accomplishments.

Miles Waterbury is very active in the fine arts, both in and away from school. Since approximately the age of 8, Miles has been studying both the trumpet and dance. Miles has studied the trumpet privately and has been a dedicated member of the band program. Now a member of the Morgan High School Concert Band and Dixieland Jazz Combo, Miles is a quiet leader in the program helping the director and his peers around him constantly. Miles also is an excellent singer, actor and a member of the Morgan Chorus, select Vocal Ensemble and a cast member in the Morgan Musical. Outside of school, Miles has been studying dance most of his life. His favorite style is “tap” (he enjoys the highly rhythmic aspects of it!) and participates in competitive dance teams. He is an assistant instructor at Westbrook Dance Academy. Throughout his participation in many performing arts areas, Miles maintains excellent marks in all his academic subjects at school and has constantly been on the High Honor Roll. Only a freshman this year, the future is very bright for this young man who truly exemplifies Rotary International’s motto Service Above Self.
