Amanda Thompson, Clinton Rotary Club’s Morgan School Student of the Month

October 2015

Amanda, a Senior at Morgan School, is a dedicated scholar who works hard inside and outside of the classroom. She is an active member of Peer Advocates and National Honor Society; participating in a multitude of activities. Moreover, Amanda helps to teach Sunday School at her church and helps out with the community events that are sponsored by her church. She also helps to plan the MS Walk every year.

Amanda is an outstanding fencer in the Morgan School’s fencing program. A highlight of this year was when she was presented with one of the most prestigious honors for an upperclass fencer. She was named to the 2015 USA Fencing and Absolute Fencing Gear National All-Academic First Team. There were 317 fencers from 41 states who attained First Team recognition. Amanda was one of 14 from Connecticut that earned that honor.

Laura Luther, her Nominating Teacher for Student of the Month, states Amanda has the highest of moral codes. Her refreshing attitude and kind heart make the school community and the Clinton community better.
