Clinton Woman Left Dog in Hot Car: Police
A witness called 911 after seeing that the dog was panting and in distress, according to police.

A Clinton woman is facing animal cruelty charges after police say she left a dog in her car on Friday.
According to police, officers arrived on scene to the area of 480 Main Street in Middletown for the report of a dog who was inside a white SUV. The complainant told police the dog was panting heavily and in distress.
The complainant learned of the dog in the vehicle at 10 a.m. and checked twice on the dog before calling 911 at 11 a.m., police said. The complainant also said that a man put something in the trunk of the car around 10:30 a.m. but allegedly did not check on the dog.

The small dog was in the front seat of the vehicle and all four windows and the sunroof was cracked, police said. The temperature around this time was 81 degrees.
Kara Franco, 38 told police the dog and the car belonged to her and she did not expect to be away that long.

Franco was issued a summons to court for the charge of cruelty to animals. She was given a court date of June 26.
