Crews Search For Missing Kayaker Near Connecticut River
The U.S. Coast Guard and local crews are involved with the search after an overturned kayak was found on Monday afternoon.

OLD SAYBROOK, CT — The U.S. Coast Guard and several local agencies are searching for a possible person in the water after receiving a report of an overturned kayak near the mouth of the Connecticut River in Old Saybrook on Monday afternoon. Coast Guard officials say they are looking for William Zadrozny, 18, who was reportedly wearing work boots, a gray and yellow jacket, and jeans.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound received a call at about 5 p.m. on Monday from a Good Samaritan reporting an overturned kayak with a lifejacket and fishing gear on board, according to the Coast Guard.

The Old Saybrook Police and Fire departments are involved with the search, along with the Old Lyme Police Department and a 45-foot Response Boat from Coast Guard Station New London, a Coast Guard Cutter Steelhead from Newport, Rhode Island, a HC-144A Ocean Sentry aircraft from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Massachusetts and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and the Connecticut DEEP, according to the Coast Guard.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound command center at 203-468-4401 or on the radio at VHF-FM marine radio channel-16.
