Off-Duty Clinton Firefighter Comes To Aid Of Boat In L.I. Sound After Onboard Fire
The incident happened near Duck Island in Westbrook, officials said.
WESTBROOK, CT — A boat was safely evacuated Sunday in Long Island Sound after an onboard fire, according to fire officials.
A member of the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department, who was in the area aboard his personal vessel, helped evacuate all of the occupants to safety, officials said.
No injuries were reported. The boat was south of the state-owned Duck Island at the time, officials said.

Emergency personnel from Westbrook, Clinton and Old Saybrook responded to the scene.
Fire officials said arriving crews found the 42-foot boat with light smoke coming from it. The vessel was brought to port, officials said.
