Employee Injured During Assault at Clinton Crossing Outlet Store: Police

Police say the employee was sprayed in the face with a substance believed to be mace or pepper spray by two women who fled the store.

CLINTON, CT — An employee at the Polo Store at Clinton Crossing Outlets was hospitalized for treatment after being injured during a dispute with two women at the store on Thursday night, according to police.

Police said the female employee was sprayed directly in the face with a foreign substance, believed to be a chemical mace or pepper spray. The suspects then fled the store and were believed to be in the possession of stolen property, according to police.

Clinton Police responded to the Polo store at about 8:20 p.m. on Dec. 23 on the report of a customer dispute.

“It was believed that two African American females were actively involved in a dispute with a few store employees,” police said in a press release. “This confrontation went on for several minutes until a customer in the store called police to report this activity.

“While police were in route to the store, a second call was received by the police indicating that one of the two African American females sprayed a foreign substance (believed to be a chemical mace or pepper spray) directly into the face of a Polo store employee. The two African American females then fled from the store quickly on foot, immediately after committing the assault. It is believed the two females were also in possession of stolen property as they fled the store.”

The injured employee was treated at the scene by police, fire and EMS personnel. She was then transported to a local emergency room to be treated for her injuries, according to police.

Clinton Police are asking the for the public’s assistance with identifying the suspects in the photos.
