Former HCH Library librarian Kevin Wiliarty, the English-language translator of Jan-Philipp Sendker's Art of Hearing Heartbeats, will read from his translation and talk about the balance art and artisanry in writing a literary translation. Wiliarty, who has a Ph.D. in Germanic Linguistics, will share his story of translating a book from German to English, and read from Sendker’s compelling love story set in Burma that is part romance, part father-daughter story.
