CLINTON, CT — A man who was found to be “highly intoxicated” is accused of burglarizing two Clinton homes during the early morning hours on Sunday, according to police.

The caller told police that there was someone currently inside his home, in his basement/garage.
Officers that were already in the area arrived within seconds of the 911 call and located the suspect as he was exiting the home via a broken garage door window, according to Dunn.
“The individual had in his possession a large capacity carry bag which contained several containers/bottles of alcohol that he was attempting to steal from this residence,” Dunn said. “Officers confronted the suspect and took him into custody without incident.”
Samuel Schultz, 23, of Brush Hill Road in Clinton, was identified as the suspect and arrested.
Dunn said that Schultz was determined to be highly intoxicated at the time. Police also determined that Schultz was responsible for committing both reported burglaries, according to Dunn.
Schultz was charged with two counts of first-degree burglary, two counts of disorderly conduct, third-degree criminal mischief and sixth-degree larceny.
Schultz is currently being held on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court in Middletown on Jan. 17.
