This House On Airline Road Was Allegedly Set On Fire By Its Owner Or Owner's Representative, Say Police

In order to make a buck, an East Haven woman is accused of insurance fraud, criminal attempt to commit larceny and providing a false statement in an ongoing arson investigation, said Clinton Police.

Kathleen "Sissy" Ruggiero, 53, of East Haven, was arrested recently and charged with arson of her 52 Airline Road home.

Police say she or a representative allegedly burned the place deliberately and then made insurance claims on the property and items from the residence.

According to Sgt. Joseph Flynn of the Clinton Police Department, Ruggiero allegedly lied to investigators during the course of the investigation. She has been charged with providing a false statement.

The tax office of Clinton town hall confirmed that Ruggiero alone is listed as the owner of the Airline Road house.

Ruggiero is free on a $100,000 bond and was reached March 30 at her residence in East Haven. She promptly ended the conversation after giving Patch the names of her two attorneys, Frank Riccio and John Laudati.

She is set to appear in Middletown Superior Court on April 5.
