Man Charged In Stabbing Of 82-Year-Old Man In Westbrook: Police

The victim suffered significant injuries in a stabbing at the Middlesex Health Shoreline Medical Center last week, according to police.

WESTBROOK, CT — A Chester man is accused of stabbing an 82-year-old man at the Middlesex Health Shoreline Medical Center in Westbrook last week, according to Connecticut State Police.

Police received a 911 call from the victim around 3:25 p.m. on July 29, saying that he had just been stabbed in the front entrance area of at the Middlesex Health Shoreline Medical Center at 250 Flat Rock Place in Westbrook.

The victim told police that a man got out of his vehicle, walked up to his car and confronted him and eventually stabbed him, according to officials.

Police said the victim suffered significant injuries, but they weren’t considered life-threatening.

At the time of the incident, police said there was limited information on the suspect and his vehicle. With assistance from the public, detectives identified the suspect as 37-year-old Ricky Loveland.

Loveland was arrested Thursday on a warrant and charged with second-degree assault of an elderly person. He was held in lieu of a $150,000 bond with a court date of Aug. 6.
